2021 Scholarship Winner — Coleman Cronk
In alignment with Corey’s character and community impact, and made possible by the generous contributions of family, friends, and members of the local community, the fifth annual Hoody Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Lakota West Senior, Coleman Cronk.
Coleman, son of Julie and Jason Cronk, is a decorated student athlete whose determination and leadership helped lead the Lakota West Men’s Cross-Country team to a 2020 Division 1 State Title and a #13 national ranking. He finished his XC career as the first Firebird runner in school history to earn first team All-GMC honors all four years, and was name Academic All-State this past season. He has been described as someone who “embodies hard work, dedication, sacrifice and humility” and “is one of the hardest workers you will find”.
As a life-long West Chester native, Coleman revealed a deep appreciation for the friendships and memories he has made during his years at Lakota. Aside from being an accomplished student athlete, Coleman also dedicates his free time in support of local charities such as Matthew 25 Ministries and Reach Out Lakota. Where Coleman’s drive, discipline and accomplishments are impressive in their own right, it was Coleman’s expression of loyalty to his inner circle and pride for the community that raised him that ultimately resonated with the selection committee.
Coleman will be a freshman this fall at Florida State University where he will be joining the cross-country team as a walk on. While he still is working on determining a major, his long-term plans include graduate school to better prepare his understanding and knowledge of his future career path.
In his own words…
“By receiving this scholarship it is an honor to have my name alongside MSG Corey Hood and the select few who have also received this award. Your generosity will go a long way in helping me further my education at Florida State University. The kindness the Hoody family has shown is greatly appreciated and I look forward to attending the annual Hoody Memorial Golf Outing!”
